​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Renewable Energy Initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Kingdom

The initiative aims at executing and preparing all studies and preliminary works that are in line with the best international practices, providing the necessary permits for renewable energy projects, and then starting the tendering process in order to increase the contribution of renewable energy sources to the local energy consumption and to the optimal, highly efficient, and competitively priced energy mix used in electricity production. In addition it seeks establishing partnerships with the private sector to increase the capacity of renewable energy generation within a specific timeframe.

The Sakaka IPP PV Project, one of NREP's projects, is located 30 km from the city of Sakaka in the Al-Jouf region north of the Kingdom.

Started operations: June 2021

Capacity: 300 MW

The Dumat Al-Jandal Wind Farm project is located in the Al-Jouf. It set a world record for the least cost of electricity produced by wind.​

Capacity: 400 M

The Shuaibah IPP PV Project (600 MW) is located 80 km south of Jeddah. It set a world record of the lowest cost of electricity produced by solar energy.​

The Rabigh IPP PV Project (300 MW) is located 25 km from Rabigh

The Jeddah IPP PV Project (300 MW) is located in the 3rd Industrial City of Jeddah, 50 km from Makkah.

The Qurayyat IPP PV Project (200 MW) is located 10 km from Qurayyat in the north part of Aljouf region.

The Medina IPP PV Project (50 MW) is one of the projects that aim to incentivize Saudi companies to contribute to the renewable energy sector and gain experience in developing renewables projects. It is located 25 km from Medina with an area of 1.2 km2

The Rafha IPP PV Project (20 MW) is one of the projects that aim to incentivize Saudi companies to contribute to the renewable energy sector and gain experience in developing renewables projects. located 16 km from Rafha in the Northern Borders region.

The Sudair IPP PV Project (1,500 MW) is located in the Riyadh region. It is one of the projects developed by PIF​.
