In the presence of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, an official ceremony was held to inaugurate the Khizi–Absheron Wind Power Plant in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The project developer was represented by Mohammed Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power.
The Khizi–Absheron Wind Power Plant is among the largest wind energy projects developed by Saudi ACWA Power in Azerbaijan, with a total capacity of 240 megawatts. The project contributes to increasing the share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan’s energy mix, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the country’s energy objectives.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, along with senior Azerbaijani government officials, representatives of the energy sector, and international partners.
The Khizi–Absheron project highlights the advanced cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan in renewable energy. It also strengthens the Kingdom’s presence in global energy markets, supports the exchange of expertise, and advances sustainable renewable energy value chains.
The project forms part of a broader portfolio of ACWA Power–led investments across multiple countries, reaffirming the Kingdom’s leadership in advancing the global transition toward a more sustainable energy future through its national companies.
