Ministry of Energy Receives Excellence Award at Digital Government Forum

The Ministry of Energy has received the Excellence Award at the annual Digital Government Forum for best adoption of artificial intelligence applications among government entities, recognizing its Smart Electricity Consumption Monitoring Project.
The project, one of the Ministry’s flagship digital initiatives, leverages smart meter data, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve energy efficiency across government facilities.
During its implementation, more than 2.3 billion data readings were collected and analyzed from over 76,000 government buildings over a 24-month period. The analysis identified potential savings of 20 to 30 percent in electricity consumption and reductions in annual electricity bills.
The recognition underscores the Ministry’s leadership in driving digital transformation across the energy sector. Recently, it launched Taqah, a unified digital platform offering more than 70 services from six energy-sector entities, serving over 500,000 beneficiaries from government agencies, private companies, and individuals.
Through the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, the Ministry continues to promote efficient energy production and consumption. Working with partner entities, the Center has implemented over 100 initiatives, achieving primary energy savings of around 662,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by the end of 2024.
